Chandravalli Caves
Explore Chandravalli Caves and discover the hidden secrets from the Iron Age!
Chandravalli Caves is a pre-historic archaeological site located in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka, set amidst three hills, Chitradurga, Cholagudda and Kirubanakallu.
The caves resemble a never-ending maze of steep steps that lead into passageways, rooms and waiting rooms where kings from the Hoysala, Kadamaba, and Satavahana dynasties resided and temples where saints of the Ankali Math of Belgaum used to meditate.
What is absolutely mind-blowing about Chandravalli Caves is the fact that even though there is no source of light, it is remarkably well-ventilated, and you can feel a gentle, pleasant breeze around you every time. As there is no source of light, one has to rely on a torchlight to navigate inside the cave.
The Cave exhibits an inexplicable magical aura with its carvings of Hindu and Buddhist symbols and remnants of pre-historic paintings in vegetable colours.
The Cave has a small temple with Shivalinga installed in it, overlooking a pristine lake.
The lake not only adds picturesque charm to the entire area but is also visited by numerous birds, making it ideal for birdwatching.
