Eravikulam National Park at Munnar in the state of Kerala showcases wildlife at its finest and is home to the largest living population of endangered Nilgiri Tahrs. It is regarded as one of Kerala’s most picturesque forest expanses and it proudly holds the prestigious title of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The aesthetic grandeur of the park allows the visitors to see the endangered Nilgiri Tahr up close. A leisurely stroll along the black road for about a kilometer leads to the junction where these rare creatures reside. Despite their elusive nature, they have grown accustomed to human presence over time.

Keep in mind that the Eravikulam National Park is closed from February 1 to March 31, 2024, during the calving season, so plan your Munnar visit accordingly if you’re eager to spot the Nilgiri Tahr.
